The M.POWER Single-Sided Diamond Bench Stones are designed for woodworkers who want to build their own sharpening setup, or simply prefer the convenience of a single-sided stone.
What makes these stones different is the built-in mounting system. Each stone has an integral clamping point, allowing it to be temporarily or permanently fixed to a bench, jig or custom sharpening station. If you want a dedicated sharpening area in your workshop, several stones can be mounted side by side, giving you a permanent setup with different grades ready to use.
If you don’t want to screw the stone down, that’s fine too. Four non-slip nitrile rubber feet give the stone a good, stable footing when it’s simply placed on the bench.
Each stone is supplied as a complete sharpening and finishing kit, including a magnetic leather strop cover, polishing wax, lapping fluid and cleaning block. So there’s no need to start buying the finishing accessories separately.

There are three diamond grades available:
- 300 grit equivalent – for establishing an edge and removing more material
- 600 grit equivalent – for refining and sharpening
- 1200 grit equivalent – for producing a finer edge before stropping
The strop supplied is matched to the diamond grade. The 300 and 600 stones use a durable crust-up leather, while the 1200 stone uses the smoother skin-side of the leather for finer finishing. The corresponding polishing wax is also matched to each grade.
The magnetic strop cover is particularly neat. It simply clicks off when you want to sharpen and clicks back on when you’re ready to strop, so the finishing stage is always there without needing another piece of equipment on the bench.
M.POWER’s polishing waxes are available in three grades, approximately 1800, 2500 and 5000 grit equivalent. They are formulated with friable abrasives, which break down as they are used to help produce a finer polishing action. The wax can be used with the matching M.POWER stone or to finish an edge sharpened on another diamond stone.
The supplied lapping fluid has also been developed specifically for diamond sharpening. It helps carry sharpening debris away from the blade and through the recessed pattern in the diamond surface, reducing the build-up of swarf and helping to keep the stone cutting effectively. It is free from nitrates, mineral oil, sulphur, chlorine and phenol.
The diamond surface uses M.POWER’s distinctive recessed pattern. It may look a little unusual, but there’s a good reason behind it. The pattern has been developed to provide plenty of channels for the sharpening slurry and swarf to escape, helping to prevent the surface becoming clogged or ‘pasted’ during sharpening.
Underneath the diamond surface is M.POWER’s high-tolerance extruded aluminium core. It is machined and anodised to provide a hard-wearing, rust-free base and an exceptionally flat sharpening surface. M.POWER specifies a flatness tolerance of ±0.00175″ (0.044mm) across the length of the stone.
The aluminium core also allows the integrated screw-down mounting system to be built into the stone. Once mounted, the stone stays firmly in position, which is particularly useful if you’re building a dedicated sharpening station.
And you don’t have to stop at one. The single-sided stones are designed to be used alongside one another, allowing you to create a sharpening station around the way you work. You could have a 300, 600 and 1200 grade permanently mounted in a row, for example, giving you a dedicated place for everything from rough sharpening to final honing and stropping.

If you’re happy to simply put a sharpening stone on the bench and get to work, these will do that. But their real strength is the flexibility to build something more permanent. Mount one to a jig, screw several into your bench to create a dedicated sharpening station, or use the supplied non-slip feet and keep things simple. It’s a sharpening system you can set up around your workshop rather than having to work around the stone.
